The CPO Employability Mentor Service is a dedicated one-to-one service for individuals who are involved with Justice Services. We are here to help clients identify further education, training, or volunteering and employment opportunities and help our clients to make the most of these opportunities. We will help clients identify their skills, help create a professional CV, show clients how to find the job they want and apply. But by tackling the ADDITIONAL barriers clients face, caused by being involved with the Justice Service, we are able to help clients to realistically face the future, reassess the way forward and reach long lasting positive destinations.

For those involved with the Justice Services, taking on training to gain vital certificates / tickets or industry training along their journey to employment can be full of barriers. Some are common to all job seekers, lack of confidence, no prior education/training or fear of the unknown. However, for those within the justice service, distrust of the system, chaotic lifestyles, homelessness and lack of access to necessary resources can make that step even harder.

The Employability Mentor Service (under the banner of New Directions) is bringing access to a wide range of training opportunities in-house, with the support of the Employability Mentors. Mentors will help clients to identify courses based on the clients needs and goals, help ensure that the client is able and ready to complete the training and support the client to enrol, understand the training process and ensure that clients have the best chance of success. Whilst Mentors will not assist clients with their assessments, support to fully engage with their training will bring client successes, increasing confidence and higher pass rates.

Here's something you should know

Info Box

Employability programmes work a little differently from other courses, especially when it comes to eligibility. For example, someone from Glasgow wouldn't be eligible for a programme taking place in North Ayrshire, and vice versa. Check the Postcode Eligibility tab in the Things to Know section to make sure this programme is open to you.
