About this programme

In partnership with The Third Sector Dumfries and Galloway, we are offering FULLY FUNDED Mental health First Aid course.

This 1-day course is aimed at providing learners with the knowledge to identify suspected mental health conditions and the skills to start a conversation and be able to signpost the person towards professional help. It also expands on the effects of drugs and alcohol and incorporates the First Aid for Mental Health Action Plan, along with providing ways in which a positive mental health culture can be supported within the workplace.

A range of First Aid for Mental Health related subjects are covered including:

  • What is First Aid for mental health?
  • Identifying mental health conditions
  • Providing advice and starting a conversation
  • Stress
  • Mental health conditions
  • Drugs and Alcohol
  • First Aid for Mental Health Action Plan
  • First Aid for Mental Health in the Workplace

You will complete practical and multiple-choice assessment. On successful completion, a level 2 Award in First Aid for Mental Health will be issued and is valid for 3 years from the date of achievement.

There are practical activities on this course, please wear suitable clothing and footwear.
