The Money House (TMH) helps young people in, or about to move into housing, manage their money and remain independent.

TMH 5-day course covers: budgeting, borrowing, banking, earning money, consumer rights, scams, employability skills, tenancy agreements, inventory checks, housing options and rights & responsibilities of landlords/tenants.

Participants gain practical financial and digital skills to pay their rent, bills and living costs whilst making informed choices about their future. Attendees can receive an SCQF Level 4 in Personal Money Management and an SCQF Level 4 in Independent Living Skills (tenancies + employability skills) credit rated by SQA.

Our expert helps young people become more confident about money and living on their own by providing real-life skills in a unique setting that brings financial education to life and helps prevent homelessness.

At TMH there are no lectures. Interactive games and activities involve young people in every aspect of their learning. All sessions take place in our simulated-flat so you can learn real-life skills such as reading the electricitiy meter, whilst feeling comfortable and relaxed.

Participants will receive a hot lunch (at least 2 are takeaways!) plus travel expenses.

Info Box

Employability programmes work a little differently from other courses, especially when it comes to eligibility. For example, someone from Glasgow wouldn't be eligible for a programme taking place in North Ayrshire, and vice versa. Check the Postcode Eligibility tab in the Things to Know section to make sure this programme is open to you.
