The purpose of this programme is to provide participants with an opportunity to develop the skills and knowledge necessary to participate within their communities, consolidate their broader learning and achievements through a range of new and familiar experiences, and to help them to become increasingly independent.

Participants will be provided with one-on-one support during which they will agree targets and identify tasks which will address their needs. This will enable the formulation of an Action Plan, which will enable participants to reflect on their progress and, by so doing, develop confidence and self-reliance.  Learning will seek to develop learners’ potential as contributing and independent members of their societies through the development of basic life skills, including the ability to use information and communicate effectively.  Participants will work in a group to organise an event, of their choice and develop confidence and a variety of essential employability skills.

The level of the award is determined by the amount of support given by the trainer.

Here's something you should know

Info Box

Employability programmes work a little differently from other courses, especially when it comes to eligibility. For example, someone from Glasgow wouldn't be eligible for a programme taking place in North Ayrshire, and vice versa. Check the Postcode Eligibility tab in the Things to Know section to make sure this programme is open to you.
