Our Community Volunteering Enterprise Project, specifically for young people aged between 16-24 who meet the YPG funding criteria, will be a combination of learning, guidance and support. Our programme will  offer a challenging, and supported, opportunity for young people across Aberdeenshire to engage in a flexible personal development programme of three phases:

  1. initial engagement in a learning environment where the participants interests, existing skills, knowledge and abilities would be assessed
  2. the participant being offered an opportunity to enrol in a SQA Employability Award, which if completed would lead to the achievement of an SQA certificated award
  3. support to engage in a relevant volunteering activity with all the benefits that can come from volunteering in the community (volunteering can continue beyond the planned end of the phase)

We anticipate that each programme of activities would run for 4 months but there is flexibility available to ensure that the needs of all of the young people who might engage are fully met. If a young person needs more support then this will be available, if a young person can fast track through the first or second phase of the programme then this would also be available.

Here's something you should know

Info Box

Employability programmes work a little differently from other courses, especially when it comes to eligibility. For example, someone from Glasgow wouldn't be eligible for a programme taking place in North Ayrshire, and vice versa. Check the Postcode Eligibility tab in the Things to Know section to make sure this programme is open to you.
