This course is free for all East Renfrewshire residents over 16.
Enabling learners to gain an understanding of what budgeting is, sharing tools and resources to help them with this, including local knowledge of money saving ideas. Will cover a wide range of budgeting and financial wellbeing skills, such as ‘shrinkflation’, the hidden cost of special offers, planning meals ahead, making shopping lists for low cost ingredients, easy recipes, free school meals i.e. entitlement and current changes.
MART (Money Advice & Rights Team) will also share information on ‘income maximisation’ and facilitate a conversation about how maths and numeracy relate to saving money on a budget. All learners will have the offer of a confidential financial ‘health check’ at a time suitable to all.

At the start of the course, and throughout, learners will the opportunity to shape the course. All their ideas and suggestions will be integrated into each week.
Learners’ confidence and ability with maths and numeracy in making good food and budgeting choices will be improved. The sessions will discover existing skills, build on strengths and confidence in cooking and eating on a budget.
