Our aim at the Prince’s Trust is to support as many young people as we can into positive outcomes and our Development Awards can do that!

Development Awards are £500 awards for young people aged 16-24 who are struggling to access education, work, volunteering, or training due to a lack of funds. Cashback Development Awards should remove the financial barrier that prevents a young person having the resources or skills they need to access or take a positive step towards education, training, or employment opportunity. It can be used to fund training, equipment, travel, ID, safety clothing and other things that will allow young people to overcome their financial barrier to accessing a positive outcome.

The eligibility criteria for this award are:

    • Young People Aged 16-24
    • Unemployed or underemployed (working less than 16 hours per week)
    • Not in education (exceptions if in education less than 14 hours per week)

Info Box

Employability programmes work a little differently from other courses, especially when it comes to eligibility. For example, someone from Glasgow wouldn't be eligible for a programme taking place in North Ayrshire, and vice versa. Check the Postcode Eligibility tab in the Things to Know section to make sure this programme is open to you.
