DFN Project SEARCH is a one-year transition to work programme for individuals with a learning disability or autism spectrum conditions, or both. Participants must live within a South Lanarkshire post code and be aged 18 .
In partnership with New College Lanarkshire, NHS Lanarkshire and ISS Facilities Management, participants are based on site at University Hospital Hairmyres where they will be supported to undertake work placement opportunities, along side developing their employability knowledge.
Participants will benefit from classroom based learning, delivered by our partners at New College Lanarkshire, and will complete 3 work placement rotations throughout the year, working in roles with NHS Lanarkshire or their facilities management organisation ISS. This offers an excellent chance to build practical in work skills and experience that enhances the knowledge gained through classroom activities.
With a Job Coach and Lecturer based on site throughout the programme, participants are offered tailored support within their roles, and are able to seek advice and guidance in real time when needed. We hope to support individuals into paid employment of 16hours upon completion of the programme, Project SEARCH offers a 12month aftercare period both for those who move into work as an outcome or those who continue to job search.
The programme runs from August to June and we currently have 1 intake per year. Our cohort for 2024/25 is currently full however, we will update this page as and when applications for the 2025/26 cohort are live.
