This course starts off with developing an individual action plan, which identifies participants needs and provides support to help you into regular activity. covers a range of digital and environmental topics.

You might enjoy revamping a laptop.  How much does it cost for a new laptop?  On this course you will work towards an SQA certificate where you will be involved in one or more of the following:

Revamping and old laptop and why doing this helps to save money and the environment.  We will take you through how to diagnose hardware and research what components are required to upgrade the laptop. Stages of upgrade covered are from diagnosis to installing/factory reset of Windows or other OS. You’ll be shown how to remove backplates and covers from laptops, allowing access to the hard drive/SSD compartment and the RAM modules. Safety precautions such as removing the battery, unplugging charger from the wall and static discharge will be covered.  You will also be learning why doing this is more cost effective and more environmentally friendly than outright replacing your old laptop with a new one.

You might enjoy making a video.  You can pick the subject.

Maybe you would prefer to create a simple computer game or learn about photography.  Whatever you choose you will be involved with a small group and supported by one of our friendly trainers.

Info Box

Employability programmes work a little differently from other courses, especially when it comes to eligibility. For example, someone from Glasgow wouldn't be eligible for a programme taking place in North Ayrshire, and vice versa. Check the Postcode Eligibility tab in the Things to Know section to make sure this programme is open to you.
