Invent your Future is focused on improving individuals’ mindsets by working on areas such as self-confidence, communication, morale, low aspirations and breaking cycles of economic hardship by providing a growth mindset essential for acquiring skills in employment. The programme would be aimed at helping individuals achieve their goals by breaking down barriers and allowing individuals to take charge of their future.

The programme lasts three days and focuses on seven  units delivered in person by a trained Invent your Future trainer.

The units covered are as follows –

  1. Getting started– Participants will explore the power of the mind.
  2. It’s All About Beliefs- Participants will learn that every action they take, large or small, is based on beliefs about that action.
  3. The Liberators: Habits, Attitudes- Participants will begin to explore their habits and attitudes and how they create areas of safety – our comfort zones – that often keep us from growing.
  4. Decisions, Decisions- Participants will learn that their decisions for today and tomorrow are mostly based on the past.
  5. Words, Pictures and Emotions- Self-Talk is the constant conversation we have with ourselves, 24/7/365. Participants will discover that while it may seem automatic, they can exert control over this internal dialogue, as it is the driver of the decisions they make.
  6. Preparing the Targets- When it comes to our own resilience and well-being, it helps to create targets toward which we can unleash our potential.
  7. Where the Rubber Meets the Road-This unit enlists the participant’s self-talk and their ability to create replacement pictures in their minds, to begin changing beliefs.

Info Box

Employability programmes work a little differently from other courses, especially when it comes to eligibility. For example, someone from Glasgow wouldn't be eligible for a programme taking place in North Ayrshire, and vice versa. Check the Postcode Eligibility tab in the Things to Know section to make sure this programme is open to you.
