This course is aimed at young people aged 15 and 16 who are eligble to leave school in December and would benefit from a change of environment and approach. It is designed to develop personal skills and positively progress attendance. Those who are 15 will require the release paperwork from the Local Authority and will not be eligible for any college funding.
It is tailor-made to fit the needs of the young people and there are variouse themes including Learner Journey, citizenship, Health & Wellbeing, Media, Creative, Digital Skills etc. These are designed to help the student develop skills and attributes that will allow them to achieve and progess in college and throughout life.
The programme is a short full-time course (3 days per week) for 18 weeks. It is available on the Ayr, Kilmarnock and Kilwinning campuses.
Funding is available for all students aged 16 and will be assessed on an individual basis.
Upon successful completion there are options of progressing to anothe HIVE programme/college course/ training provider or employment/volunteering opportunities.
