Volunteering for a brighter future is a wrap-around support offer for young people age 16-24 who are facing various challenges to moving on in their lives and achieving their goals. Our dedicated staff member- Morven, will work with each person for an average of 20 weeks-although this is very flexible to ensure we provide a package of support which is right for that individual given their unique journey and circumstance.
Building strong relationships based on our organisational values- inclusive, empowered, compassion, straightforward, positive- is at the heart of all that we do.
Although designed to be adaptable and flexible to individual needs, there are some foundational elements to our project. Collectively they offer opportunities to enhance: resilience, opportunity, skills, wellbeing and inclusion for all who take part:
One to one assessment with Morven: listening and discussing needs and aspirations for the future
Nurturing each participant throughout the programme experience
Co-design of a personal development plan so that each participant recognises the skills and qualities they already possess and how they can develop new ones
Matching to the right volunteering opportunity with one of our local charity partners- volunteer roles will be tailored to the individual and support will be given throughout the entirety of the placement to ensure it is the right environment for them to thrive in. We have everything from retail, conservation to animal care
Matching each person, where appropriate, to an experienced local volunteer mentor to support them through their experience; before, during and after their placement (up to one year). Mentoring can be incorporated at any stage in the person’s journey.
Building and maintaining proactive links with local agencies that provide specialist and additional support to provide forward services
Help to access the right specialist support if required
Whilst not specifically targeting employability themes, our project can support participants with the tools to progress through the employability pipeline and access opportunities such as employment, further education and training.
