SHAX is a local charity dedicated to providing support to people affected by homelessness and/or poverty.
We provide our clients with free Emergency Starter Packs and an Emergency Loan Service which lets them buy essential goods on a delayed payment basis.
To support our aims we run a busy furniture reuse warehouse based at Merrick House, The Crichton open Monday – Saturday from 9 – 4.
SHAX provides positive and worthwhile volunteering and work placement opportunities for local people. We are a “Volunteer Friendly” charity. Volunteer opportunities available include Starter Pack Helpers, Warehouse Assistant, Retail Assistant and Sorter/Merchandiser.
Course Length:Varies depending on the needs of the volunteer
Eligible Groups:Still in Education, Not in Full Time Education, In Receipt of Benefit, Disabled Person, Lone Parent, Homeless / At Risk of Homelessness, Care Experienced, Refugee, LGBT+, BME Groups, Health Conditions, Long Term Unemployment, Redundant/Facing Redundancy
Attendance Pattern:Minimum of 2 hours a week, hours can be flexible between Monday to Saturday
