We became a registered SCIO in June 2016, with the aim to develop and deliver a range of opportunities for children and young people with Autism and related disabilities as well as their families, carers and practitioners who support them.
Better Lives charitable purposes are:
In our locations, we run a variety of programs through our Bridge 2 Employment, Bridge 2 Business, and Bridge 2 Creative projects. These projects help our young people develop employment opportunities, skills, their creativity and support their well-being.
With work rooms situated in Castle Douglas, Stranraer, and Dumfries, Better Lives Partnership (BLP) and its programmes are available to young people across the Stewartry, Wigtownshire, Nithsdale and Annandale areas. While all 3 locations vary slightly in the specific qualifications on offer, they all follow the same basic principles of BLP.
All our projects are aimed at young people aged 16 to 25 who have Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or related disabilities and have a variety of barriers that prevent them from accessing the traditional post-school options. The aim of BLP is always to use a person-centred approach to develop unique opportunities for each young person that incorporates one or all of the following: employability skills, work experience and social enterprise.
Additionally, with the introduction of Bridge 2 Creative across all locations, BLP is working hard to provide creative activities and opportunities for development for our young people, led by professional artists.
