Whithorn Rebuild is an ambitious, learner centred organisation that prides itself in providing young people with the opportunity to protect and history while shaping their futures. The team of trainees work together to develop heritage construction skills which allows them to work on some of the most fragile, interesting and important structures in our local community and further afield. They have had the opportunity to engage in a wide portfolio of projects and contribute the direction of their learning. Whithorn Rebuild work closely with their community, including the local schools, heritage organisations, Historic Environment Scotland, funding organisations and many others.
We offer training courses in a variety of trades such as green woodwork, blacksmithing and stone carving. Our aim is to provide young people in our area with employment, niche trade skills, qualifications and skills for life. We aim to bridge the gap in local youth unemployment and extend the wonder that is historic construction skills to the wider community showcasing the need and desire to keep these skills alive.
