Prepare to start a training programme that leads straight to a job.

Jobs & Business Glasgow design training courses that lead to employment. Inside every package you will find training, professional licences, and paid work experience, leading to an interview for a job.

Start a job in Care

As a care worker you would be doing something really special, helping people. You might know people who already receive care; family, friends, neighbours, etc. Good people who just need someone to offer them a little extra help, and that’s where you come in.

4 reasons you should work in care:

  1. One of the most rewarding and satisfying jobs you can do.
  2. Excellent job security, Care Workers are in high demand!
  3. Offers real variety, no two days are the same.
  4. Flexible hours, people need care 24/7 which offers a variety of shifts.

The right people

Imagine you were in need of care, you would hope that the person who came to your rescue was kind, reliable, and trustworthy, and that’s exactly the kind of people we want. Good communication skills will help you to make the person feel at ease. You will be helping the same people regularly so you’ll get to know each other and soon be more at ease.

5 steps to a job

  1. Take part in 5 days of care training, delivered in a Glasgow city centre location.
  2. Gain your Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) licence (we help you to apply for this and pay for it)
  3. Take part in an interview for a Care Worker job (we help you to prepare for this)
  4. Start a 6 week paid work placement in care, currently paid at Glasgow Living Wage of £9.78 per hour, location to be agreed.
  5. If the placement is a success, start your new permanent job

The next step is to contact us and secure your space.

Glasgow City Council residents, aged 16 years and over are eligible for our support service. We can help both those out of work, or those currently employed. Contact us to discuss how we can best help you.

Info Box

Employability programmes work a little differently from other courses, especially when it comes to eligibility. For example, someone from Glasgow wouldn't be eligible for a programme taking place in North Ayrshire, and vice versa. Check the Postcode Eligibility tab in the Things to Know section to make sure this programme is open to you.
